As an avid chamber musician, Claire has been invited to perform in many European and North American festivals, including the Rome Festival Orchestra, and the Tafelmusik Baroque Institute. She was also the only American in 2010 to tour throughout France with the Jeune Orchestre Atlantique.
She can regularly be seen performing with the Plainfield Symphony, Mid-Atlantic Symphony Chamber Orchestra, Bravura Philharmonic, American Chamber Orchestra, Garden State Philharmonic, New Brunswick Chamber Orchestra, St. Mary’s Chamber Orchestra, as well as the Rose Trio and City Winds. Claire also serves as Concertmaster for Vari Musicisti. Recently, she played Concertmaster for the world premiere of the Axelrod Contemporary Ballet Theater’s production of Alice in Wonderland by David Winkler.
A dedicated teacher, Claire completed Suzuki Book 1 Teacher Training from The Hartt School University of Hartford, and has maintained a large private lesson studio at Rutgers Preparatory School since 2005.
Admired for her crystal sound and innate musicality, Violinist Claire Saunders Wilson has enjoyed a musical career as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player. Her versatility of playing has expanded from the classical, rock, and pop genres, to Irish style fiddle.
A native of the Tri State, Claire frequently performs in the areas finest venues including Carnegie Hall, Symphony Space, Merkin Hall, The DiMenna Center, The Count Basie Theater, The State Theater of NJ, and The Union League of Philadelphia.
Claire graduated with a Bachelor of Music from Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts under the tutelage of Todd Philips. She received a Master of Music from SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music studying with Calvin Wiersma. Her other teachers have included Peter Winograd, Matthew Reichert, Chris Nam, Beverley Lunt, Alexi Galperin, and Oscar Ravina. She also holds a diploma from the prestigious Conservatoire Americaines de Fontainebleau (The American Conservatory) in France in which she won a full scholarship.
